There is a new generation of young professionals that prefer to frequent contemporary, hip and relaxed spaces rather than the traditional, formal eating establishments for night socializing. In view of this, the Olala Restaurant is tailor made for that kind of lifestyle with its clean defined lines, modern sparkling interiors, and cozy atmosphere. The exterior is basically a straightforward affair, composed of an aquatic feature wall that frames a lofty open entrance. This flows into a through and through grand hallway extending to the very back of the structure, which is flanked by a glowing fish gallery, sleek open kitchens viewable from the hall, a double floor see through wine cellar, openings leading toward the main dining areas with tantalizing peek-a-boos of the inside and for its centerpiece, a large staircase that floats over a glass water feature. Its interior also follows this discipline by combining functional and utilitarian design with a flair for the dramatic through its play of highlights and shadows evident throughout the area. Color and texture create playful and strong modern vignettes among the features of the restaurant, and are combined with traversing lights attached to seemingly floating ceiling strips of various shapes. An example of such is the booth seating on the second floor that is composed of an elongated s-shape and bordered on its side by mosaic and metal clad bar. Another is the series of trellis walled private dining rooms with a slatted view of a mosaic and mirror water feature. Though very simple in layout and dominated by clean, unadorned lines, all of these spaces combined make an impressive statement that transforms it into a standard for modern restaurateurs.
